Christmas Pub Crawl

As has been the case with the Pacific Ski Club and its members since at least 1979, when I joined our ski club, we run a Christmas Pub Crawl on the 1st Saturday in December. Since I took over as president in 2015, we collect money from our pub crawl patrons, from the staff, owner(s), and guests that we meet or bump into — Sorry, oops! Didn’t see ya! That money, 100% of what we collect, goes directly to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.
Our goal is to collect around $400.00 and we have surpassed that figure many times over the years. As well, I offer my books on a one-for-one basis to that charity, as kids love to read, this time of the year. I wrote a tantalizing, seasonal tale, A Very Strange Christmas! Richard used to buy 10 of those books, and I would then donate 10 copies so that the charity received 20 brand new books of this enchanting Christmas story. Those books sell for $17.95 plus tax. I also do the same for my ghostly tales, The Curse of The Red Crystal, a book with 11 original ghost stories. It sell for $24.95 and tax.
We have been very lucky to find Santa still has time to come down from the North Pole. He, and at times, with an elf or two in tow, join in on the fun at our pub(s). If you have been good, you can sit on Santa’s knee and he will hear the list of what YOU want for Christmas this year. He may even have a wrapped gift with your name on it, but that remains to be seen (were you bad or good?).
It is always a lot of fun, and it is all for a very good cause as there are always needy children who, without the help of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, would find little joy under their tree. Please, mark the date on your calendar, and plan to come out and join us, if even only for a short time. It is only once a year, and as good a time as any, and to quote Dickens’s Ebeneezer Scrooge, “to pick a man’s pocket once a year!”
Great drinks along the way, good food, smiling staff, good friendships made, a few hearty toasts, tales to tell, and so much cheer that we have to pass it around on our pub crawl. Please, make the time to come down to our Christmas Charity Pub Crawl.
