Wasn’t that a Party?
With 65% of our Pacific Ski Club members in attendance, it was a very good afternoon and evening. This year, we had two door prizes for which only our ski club members were handed a ticket when they came in. Tracey Clausen picked out the Mystery Prize (green arrow) while Walter Dorken, just back from his surgery, won the 24 Coors Beer in the Coors Lite Carry Bag (yellow arrow)! Congratulations to both.
Irene MacIver manned the Membership table, but she was so busy that she hardly ever sat down!!! That is always a good sign.
Starting with a cocktail party which began at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, the formal meeting began on schedule, just after 7:15 p.m. within the scope of that meeting, we presented the annual financial report, yes we made a few dollars more than the year before and are in good standing to offer great skiing and snowboarding trips–Revelstoke and Banff 2026 are not only posted on our website, but the prices for these trips show what we are able to offer, year after year. They just do not get any better–premium rooms and the bet price var none for the 7 and 10 day packages–its booking fast and we extended the Early Bird date until our September club night!!! Check it out: Skiing 2025/26.
Our membership was also provided with 8 artistically drawn images (thanks Shannon) of different 50 Year PSC Logos. Each member was asked to vote for their favorite number and text styles (5). In the end, two of these were tied for 1st place and we have taken those to our last execute meeting, attended by more than just our executive, and from those two we have picked out the winner. It will be posted on our website as 50 Year Pacific Ski Club Log and we will offer T – shirts, Turtle necks, wine goblets and glass beer steins with that logo. You just need to let us know what size the clothing needs to be and the number of items you wish to order–prices will include all taxes and fees. We will send out an email to let you know when that is posted.
With that logo contest, our PSC motto for the 5o year logo is ‘Keeping it Cold!’ with the number 50 inside our logo and after that our motto was voted to say, ‘Keeping it Cool since 1974’ a change from the 50th and from the past motto of ‘More Than Just a Ski Club…’
Two members were nominated again this year fro the Nick White 2024/25 year, we held a written ballot vote, and our winner is Tracey Clausen! Congratulations! Your name will join that of so many since since our first winner in 1984 — we will put up a Nick White Award Tab on our new website with the story of who Nick White was and for what he stood. He was missed dearly by us with his passing at Whistler so many years ago and is remembered through that yearly memorial award. That page will list all the names of those who have achieved that level of excellence.
Our up-dated photo boards surrounded the table with the 8 images of our 50th Year Logo Contest and had many of us looking over the hundreds of event our club had put on over the past 50 years!!!
Our Sponsor, Anton Von Stefan and his winery donated a full case of excellent wines, these along with other items went to our raffle. That raffle went on until each and everyone there went home with at least one prize.!!!
Before and after the formal club meeting, tray after tray of appetizers came onto our tables and I don’t think anyone went home hungry. It was nice to have seen so many faces take the time to come down.
Plan to join us July 17th and August 21 at our Monthly Meetings each 3rd Thursday of the month.
